As the professional association for procurement and supply chain professionals, ISM recognizes the brightest examples among us in our profession. The awards and scholarships offered by ISM—Alabama are listed below.

Chad Jones Memorial Scholarship Program

Awards:

The ISM—Alabama Board of Directors will determine the number of awards, the recipients, and the amounts based on the annual budget.  No award will exceed $1,000.00.

The Awards shall be for the following:

  1. Tuition, registration, materials or any other necessary expenses related to the pursuance of a degree at any accredited college or university.
  2. Expenses related to the attendance of an ISM approved seminar for the purpose of securing CPSM or CSM certification or re-certification.
  3. Expenses related to attendance at the ISM Annual International Conference or District Conferences.

 

College/University Scholarships:

Recipients:

Applicants will be selected among deserving members of ISM—Alabama and members of their immediate family.  Guidelines for “deserving” may include financial considerations, ISM—Alabama service, and attendance at meetings and years in the association/purchasing field.

Eligibility:

Candidates will be selected from students who are pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university in the field of/or related to procurement, materials management, inventory control, contracts, or business administration. Applicants will be required to have a minimum GPA resulting in a “B” average or better for the last semester attended and a letter of recommendation from their high school principal or guidance counselor if just graduated or University dean or academic advisor from their major field of study. Candidates will be required to report their progress to ISM-Alabama.

Application For College/University Scholarship:

Applications will only be accepted from those who will attend/are attending an accredited college or university.  Other requirements are as follows:

  1. Submission of a written request for consideration addressed to the ISM—Alabama Board of Directors
  2. If employed, a written recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor or department head
  3. A written recommendation by the high school principal or guidance counselor (for an incoming freshman)
  4. A written recommendation by the dean or academic advisor from the candidate’s college or university (for current students)
  5. Confirmation of enrollment and an official transcript

Note:  Scholarships are per year and recipients must apply each year to be considered.

Receipt Of The Request:

Requests must be received no later than March 22 of each year.

 

Conference/Seminar Attendance:

Recipients:

Applicants will be selected among deserving members of ISM—Alabama. Guidelines for “deserving” may include financial considerations, ISM—Alabama service, and attendance at meetings and years in the association/purchasing field.

Receipt Of The Request:

A request for a particular seminar can be made up to 120 days prior to the date of the seminar. This request will be considered if designated funds are still available in the annual budget for scholarships.

Award:

All requests will be considered by the Trustees and recommendations made to the Board of Directors. Recipients will be determined at a meeting of the ISM—Alabama Board of Directors. 

Payments:

Checks for recipients attending college will be made payable to the college or university. Checks for seminars or conferences will be made payable to the sponsoring organization.

Payments for expenses for a seminar or conference can be paid directly to the recipient(s) upon presentation to the treasurer of ISM—Alabama reasonable and customary receipts.
